Shaun Jacobs will be joining us at the Route 40 music festival and we are very excited! The Rolling Stones description of Shaun Jacobs is that he has “an uncanny knack for an old-fashioned pop hook and he deploys it like a stealth missile throughout Love Can. It’s already earned the multi-instrumentalist a fistful of chart-toppers, among them “Love Can” and “End of the Road” – and you can be sure that many more Number Ones will unspool from the album before it’s run its course. A happily married man whose faith underpins his life, it’s no surprise that love, companionship and devotion are Jacob’s lyrical stock-in-trade – but where the Jo’burg-based artist easily catches you off-guard is with his songwriting range. Woven between the mainstream pop hooks is folk (“Where I’m Yours”), electronica (“Slipping Away”), and melodic rock (“Drift Away”). And, for all his studio skills (he played all instruments, recorded, mixed and produced the album), Jacobs’ innate musical gifts are hardly more visible than on the lovely, stripped down album closer, “Still Got You”.”
